Basic Home Education Exemption Application Guide Pack
This version of my exemption guide pack is the 2021 edition. It has been replaced by my new, much more comprehensive Success with Exemption Applications guide pack. However, this version remains on offer to those with a limited budget, as I want everyone to have the help they need.
In order to legally home educate your child in New Zealand, the first step is obtaining an exemption from the law that requires all children between the ages of 6-16 to be enrolled in and attending a registered school. The process of obtaining that exemption is not difficult, but it can seem daunting. My guide will lead you step-by-step through the process of successfully obtaining your Certificate of Exemption.
This guide pack was completely updated in 2021 to align with the Ministry of Education's application forms and expectations, as well as 2020 law changes. An addendum has now (2023) been added to address one change since. The pack includes:

A Word file version of the application forms for you to use when completing your own application
One example complete application
